The national visa may be extended if all of the following conditions are met:

• it is associated with an important professional or personal interest or humanitarian reasons, preventing the person from leaving the territory of the Republic of Poland before the expiry of her/his visa or before the end of the permitted period of residence covered by the visa,
• the circumstances being the reason for the visa application occurred beyond the foreigner's control and were impossible to predict on the date of submitting the visa extension application,
• the circumstances of the case do not indicate that the purpose of the foreigner's stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland will be other than declared,
• there are no circumstances providing grounds for refusal of the issue of a national visa.

The Schengen visais extended if a visa holder proved that due to a force majeure or for humanitarian reasons, he/she cannot leave the territory of Schengen before the expiry of the visa or before the end of the permitted period of stay covered by the visa.

The Schengen visa may be extended if the visa holder presented a proof of the occurrence of important personal reasons that justify the extension of the visa or the period of stay.
