What do I need to know?
- The issue of the Polish travel document for a foreigner does not release you from the obligation to take up measures to obtain a travel document of the country of origin.
- The Polish foreigner's identity document confirms only the foreigner's identity; it does not confirm the foreigner's citizenship and does not entitle her/him to cross the border and does not release the foreigner from the obligation to legalise her/his stay on the territory of our country.
- The temporary Polish travel document for a foreigner entitles the foreigner solely and exclusively to leave the territory of Poland. If you have to return, you should apply for a travel document of the country of origin or a temporary Polish travel document for a foreigner with a consul of the Republic of Poland at the place of residence.
- Validity of issued documents:
The Polish travel document for a foreigner – 1 year
The temporary Polish travel document for a foreigner – up to 7 days
The Polish foreigner's identity document – 1 year
- The Polish travel document for a foreigner or the Polish foreigner's identity document can be replaced in the event of:
the change of data contained in the current document;
the change of the document holder's face appearance in comparison to her/his face appearance shown in the photograph placed in the document to an extent making the identification of the document holder difficult or impossible;
loss of the document;
damage of the document.
An application for the replacement of the above-mentioned document should be submitted within 14 days from the occurrence of the cause of the replacement.
