Frequently Asked Questions

1. What documents are needed to get an invitation?

A completed application for the entry of the invitation in the registry of invitations, a deed of ownership (e.g. in the form of a notarial deed, land and mortgage register, a notice of tax assessment, a lease agreement, a certificate from a housing cooperative – with the originals for inspection, photocopies for the office), funds (e.g. a certificate of income and type of employment, a bank statement with the available balance, a document confirming one's pension), a charge of PLN 27 for the invitation

2. Can the invitation be submitted and collected by a representative?

A representative with written authorization (power of attorney) may file an application for the entry in the registry of invitations together with appendices. The invitation should be collected in person or by a representative having a special power of attorney to collect it (a sample power of attorney to submit an application and collect an invitation) (a sample power of attorney to collect an invitation)

The fee for the power of attorney is PLN 17; persons exempt from the fee: a spouse, descendants (parents, grandparents), ancestors (children, grandchildren) or siblings of the applicant.

3. What is the maximum period for which one can invite a Foreigner?

One may invite a Foreigner for up to one year.

4. What information should be included on a bank statement and what period should be covered by a bank statement?

A bank statement should contain the name and surname of the account holder, the printout date and the final balance. Credits are not taken into account - only the closing balance, therefore a printout with the current account balance (it cannot be older than one month at the moment of submitting the application) is sufficient. It should contain a clause "Generated document electronically does not require a signature or stamp" or it should contain a stamp and a signature of person authorized to issue the relevant document.

5. What is the required income to have an invitation issued?

  • for a bank account – at least PLN 515 per each month of the planned stay
  • for an employment certificate – PLN 515 monthly for a foreigner, the person and each family member supported by the person and for each invited foreigner
  • at least PLN 200 – for the immediate family (a lineal descendant, an ancestor, a spouse, spouse's parents or the inviter's siblings)

The inviter should have funds to cover the costs of the invited foreigner's return trip to his/her place of origin or residence or a transit to a third country that will permit the entry, equal to the price of the ticket to this country, however, no less than:

  • PLN 200 for a return trip or a transit to a country bordering on the Republic of Poland;
  • PLN 500 for a return trip or a transit to a European country;
  • PLN 2,500 for a return trip or a transit to a non-European third country.

6. How to document the amount of pension?

With a pension decision - revalorisation, pension slip (originals for inspection + copies for the office) or a bank statement concerning the account to which the pension is transferred.

7. Is it necessary to bring the original deed of ownership?

Yes, one should present the original deed of ownership, just as any other document (a copy for the office)

8. Is an extract from the land and mortgage register enough?

An extract from the land and mortgage register is a sufficient document confirming the ownership of the premises provided that it contains the description of the real property with the address and the information on the owner of the real property (you can attach a printout from the land and mortgage register)

9. What if the flat is owned by a spouse or parents of the inviter?

It is required to present a legal title to the premises and the written agreement of the owner to accommodate the invited foreigner.

10. What if I am not the owner of the flat and I have only a rental agreement?

One should present the lease agreement concerning the flat and the owner's written consent to the Foreigner's stay.

11. What should the certificate of income look like? What date should it contain?

The certificate should contain the date of issue, amount of income (gross or net) and type of employment. The certificate should be signed and stamped by a person authorized to issue a relevant document.

12. Is RMUA (monthly report for the insured) form enough?

No, the RMUA form does not contain the information on the type of employment.

13. What information should a hotel reservation include?

Inviter's name and surname, invited Foreigners name and surname, date of reservation which should to coincide with the period of the invitation. It' should be made in polish language or if it's in other language should be translated by official translator in to the polish.

14. What financial documents should be attached if I carry out a business activity?

A financial document (e.g. a PIT-36 form for the previous year together with the confirmation of its submission to the Tax Office, a bank statement from the company account with the closing balance) and as the ownership title to the premises (e.g. hotel booking confirmation).

15. What is the waiting time for invitation from the date of submitting documents?

The province governor will issue a decision immediately after the investigation prceedings, within 30 days.

16.Can the inviter cancel the invitation after collecting it from the Office?

The inviter may apply for cancellation of the invitation to the province governor, who entered the invitation into the register of invitations, seven days before issuing a visa for the foreigner.

17.I have a temporary residence card in Poland, can I invite a family member?

A foreigner who has a temporary residence card may invite a family member, if immediately befor issuing an invitation they have been residing on the polish territory lawfully and continously for at least 5 years (legally, that is, on the day of submitting an application the foreigner should stay five years in Poland on the basis of visa or decision on temporary residence; continously, the is the foreigner's departures from the territory of Poland at one time cannot exceed sic months, and all departures within 5 years cannot exceed 10 month in total).
