Permanent residence card of an EU citizen's family member
Who can file an application and when?
The issue of a permanent residence card of a European Union citizen's family member may be applied for by a foreigner who is not a citizen of:
- a European Union Member State;
- a Member State of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – a party to the agreement on the European Economic Area or;
- the Swiss Confederation.
A European Union citizen's family member is:
- an immediate descendant of the EU citizen or a child of her/his spouse of less than 21 years of age or supported by the European Union citizen or her/his spouse;
- an immediate ancestor of the EU citizen or her/his parent supported by her/him;
- the EU citizen or her/his spouse.
An application for the issue/replacement of a residence card of an EU citizen should be submitted by a foreigner IN PERSON to a voivode having jurisdiction over her/his place of residence before the expiry of the residence card of a European Union citizen's family member. The requirement of personal submission of an application does not apply no a minor.
