- Where can I submit an application? Can the application be send by post?
You can submit Your application personally or send it by the post. Information about the rules of submission of documents You can find on the website:
- What is the amount of administrative fee and on what account number can I pay it?
The application for recognition as repatriate is not subject to any administrative fee.
- I do not have a decision of the consul to recognize me as a person of Polish ancestors. What do I have to do?
A person who does not have such a decision, has to enclose documents confirming Polish ancestry with the application. They are next passed to the consul in order for him of her to recognize the person as having Polish ancestry.
- How can I certify documents to be true copies?
The documents can be certified to be true copies by Polish notary, Polish consul or the applicant’s proxy, being an attorney, legal advisor, patent lawyer, patent lawyer or tax advisor. The documents can also be certified at the Mazowieckie Voivodship Office in Warsaw upon submitting the application.
- Where can I confirm the documents to be true copies abroad?
The documents can be confirmed to be certified copies in Polish Embassy or in Polish Consulate.
- Will the documents I enclosed with the application be returned to me?
No, the documents enclosed with the application are not returned, because they serve as proof in the case.
- Who can translate the documents in to Polish?
Documents in foreign language should be translated into Polish by Polish sworn translator or by Polish consul.
- I have changed the address of residence during the proceedings. Do I have to inform the office about this fact?
Yes, during the proceedings, the applicant has an obligation to inform the office about any changes of his or her address. In case of dereliction of this duty, all the official letters are being sent to the previous address and deemed delivered.
- How long will it take to render the decision?
The decision is rendered within 1 month. If the case is highly complicated, not later than within 2 months.
The terms of decision rendering do not include terms provided by the provisions of law in order to perform specific actions (e.g. waiting for information and documents from consular posts), periods of suspension of the proceedings and periods of delay caused by the party’s own fault (e.g. if the applicant has not enclosed necessary documents to the application) or caused by factors independent of the authority (e.g. if the office is unable to act due to a natural disaster).
- I have recently submitted the application for the recognition as repatriate. Can I familiarize myself the case files?
Yes, the applicant can take an active part in every phase of the proceedings. You can read the case material at the Citizenship and Repatriation Branch (opening hours – Monday – 10 a.m. – 5.30 p.m.; Tuesday - Friday – 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.).
- How can I appeal from a decision?
The appeal from the decision can be submitted within 14 days from the date of its delivery through the Mazowieckie Voivod to the Minister of the Interior and Administration.
