Naturalisation as Polish citizen

Which documents do I have to submit?

  • The foreigner applying for naturalisation as a Polish citizen, submits the following documents:
  1. the application for naturalisation as a Polish citizen,  (application and application )
  2. the proof of the administrative fee payment,
  3. biometric photograph, biometric photograph is an undamaged, up-to-date, in color photograph of  4.5 cm x 3.5 cm, made within the last 6 months, against a homogenous, bright background, high-definition and showing clearly the eyes and face from the top of the head to the upper part  of the shoulders, so that the face covers 70-80% of the photograph. The photograph has to show a bareheaded person without any dark-lensed glasses, looking directly with the eyes opened, hair removed from face, natural face expression and closed mouth. A person with congenital of acquired eyesight disabilities, can enclose photograph depicting him or her wearing dark-lensed glasses, and person wearing headgear for religious reasons - photograph depicting him or her wearing the headgear, provided that the headgear does not hide nor distorts the shape of the face.
  4. the original version of the copy of the Birth Certificate issued by the Polish Registry Office [urząd stanu cywilnego]. The Birth Certificate should include: full name and surname, date and place of birth, name and surname of the father and name and mother’s surname at the birth,
  5. the original version of the current (not older than 3 months) document issued by the Polish Registry Office, confirming the marital status (i.e. current extract of the Marriage Certificate, extract of the Death Record of the spouse),
  6. certified photocopy of valid document confirming identity and citizenship (foreign passport or travel document or ID document of EU citizen),
  7. certified photocopy of the stay or residence in Poland permit, permanent residence or stay of a long-term EU resident permit,
  8. certified photocopy of the permanent Residence Card or a document confirming the authorization for permanent residence (EU), issued by the Mazowieckie Voivod,
  9. confirmation of the permanent residence or temporary stay in the Mazowieckie Voivodship,
  10. official certificate confirming knowledge of the Polish language, i.e. graduation certificate of a school in Poland, graduation certificate of a school abroad with Polish language of instruction or a certificate issued by the State Committee on Certifying the Knowledge of the Polish Language as a Foreign Language
  11. statement on the dates of departure from Poland, as well as of return to Poland and on the places of staying abroad in the periods specified in Art. 30, section 1 of the Act (application ) together with the documents confirming having interrupted stay in Poland (e.g. copies of whole passports with stamps, plane tickets, travels on official business).
  12. documents confirming political and social activity if it has been declared in the application,
  13. document confirming the citizenship of the foreigner’s spouse (passport or travel document or the ID document of EU citizen),
  14. held documents, proving the possession of Polish citizenship in the past, or applying for it in the past,

 

  • Foreigner applying for naturalization as Polish citizen, who does not meet the requirements specified in the points 2, 3, 4, 5 or 7 of the Article 30, Section 1 of the Act, encloses in addition the following documents:
  1. documents confirming sources of stable and regular income in Poland (e.g. employment confirmation with the amount of salary included, copy of PIT for the previous year certified by the Internal Revenue Office [urząd skarbowy], confirmation from the Internal Revenue Office on the amount of income, RMUA report – in case of agreement signed for the short period of time, confirmation from the commune office [urząd gminy] on having an agricultural farm including information on its size also in comparative fiscal hectares),
  2. document confirming the legal title to occupy a living unit.
  • The foreigner who has parental authority over juvenile foreigner, additionally encloses the following documents to the application:
  1. photograph of the child, meeting the requirements specified in point 2,
  2. the original version of the copy of the Birth Certificate issued by the Polish Registry Office [urząd stanu cywilnego]. The Birth Certificate should include: full name and surname, date and place of birth, name and surname of the father and name and surname at the birth of the mother,
  3. certified photocopy of valid document confirming identity and citizenship(s) of the child (foreign passport or travel document or ID document of EU citizen),
  4. certified photocopy of the Residence Card of the child, if he or she lives in Poland,
  5. statement of the other parent on consent for child’s naturalization as Polish citizen.

The statement has to be accepted by:

a) the Voivod competent for the seat – if the parent resides in Poland,

b) the Polish consul – if the parent resides abroad or stays in Poland pursuant to a visa or in visa-free traffic.

In the case when the statement has been submitted before other Voivod or consul, information on this fact has to be included in the application,

6. statement of the child, who is at least 16-years-old on consent to his or her naturalization as Polish citizen.

The statement has to be accepted by:

a) the Voivod competent for the seat – if the child resides in Poland,

b) the Polish consul – if the child resides abroad or stays in Poland pursuant to a visa or in visa-free traffic.

In the case when the statement has been submitted before other Voivod or consul, information on this fact has to be included in the application.

 

  • Statutory representatives, applying only for naturalization of a juvenile child as Polish citizen, submit the following documents:
  1. application signed by both of the parents,
  2. proof of administrative fee payment,
  3. biometric photograph of the child,
  4. the original version of the copy of the Birth Certificate issued by the Polish Registry Office [urząd stanu cywilnego]. The Birth Certificate should include: full name and surname, date and place of birth, name and surname of the father and name and surname at the birth of the mother,
  5. certified photocopy of valid document confirming identity and citizenship of the child (foreign passport or travel document or ID document of EU citizen),
  6. certified photocopy of the child’s Residence Permit in Poland or EC long-term Residence Permit,
  7. certified photocopy of the Residence Card or of a document confirming the authorization to stay permanently (EU), issued for the child by the Mazowieckie Voivod,
  8. confirmation of permanent or temporary residence registration of the child in the Mazowieckie Voivodship,
  9. certified photocopies of documents confirming citizenship of both of the child’s parents,
  10. certified photocopies of documents confirming that the child resides on the territory of the Republic of Poland, e.g. School Reports.
  11. statement of a child, who is at least 16-years-old, on consent to be naturalised as Polish citizen
